Greenville Revitalization Corporation sold the Woodside office building to Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina. Sale of the building took place on July 31st, 2018.
GRC purchased the 8,500 square foot building in 2015. It was formerly the office building for Woodside Mill. After renovating the building, GRC searched for a tenant that would put the historic building to the best use. In particular, GRC wanted to find something that would create economic redevelopment or employment opportunities in this area of the Textile Crescent. Goodwill Industries was a perfect match.

Since 2015, the building has been leased by Goodwill Industries, where they launched an innovative program called YouthBuild Greenville. The program provides teens and young adults (ages 17-24) with six months of occupational training, paid work experience, academic help and community service opportunities. Once completed, the program helps participants secure employment or post-secondary education.
Now that the building has been sold to Goodwill, the center will transition into a Youth and Family Services Center. Ultimately, the center will offer a variety of programs for young people as well as their family members. Many programs will be focused on education and skills advancement, but Goodwill’s vision includes supportive services, as well.
“Goodwill’s Youth and Family Services Center is an example of the good that can happen when organizations join together to serve the needs of our community,” says Darren Wright, Vice President of Career Development Services for Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina. “This location originally housed our YouthBuild Greenville program, which was a tremendous partnership between Goodwill, the Greenville Revitalization Corporation, and a number of other community organizations. Now, because of Fluor’s Golf for Greenville’s generosity and support for this community, we are able to expand our programs for young people and their families – helping them to become financially independent through employment.”
