The Right Developer for Greenville’s Next Big Thing!

The Forge on Poinsett Corridor GRC

Several years ago, the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority (GCRA), GRC’s parent organization, purchased the former Piedmont Shirt Factory on Poinsett Highway. Now, the site has been cleared environmentally and is ready to be developed for commercial or industrial use. What was once an eyesore is now a burgeoning opportunity for the Poinsett Corridor. Named “Forge,” the site represents a new beginning for the area. Close to the interstate and downtown Greenville, The Forge is surrounded by an available workforce. It’s a perfect location for Greenville’s Next Big Thing.

Poinsett Highway Streetscape Improvement Program

Since the site’s clearing, GRC has been in contact with a number of developers to create a project that will be a catalyst for growth along the Poinsett Highway Corridor. Simultaneously, the County of Greenville has targeted Poinsett Highway for a streetscape improvement program. The street improvements will include sidewalks, decorative street lights, plantings and an island in the middle of the road.

Now that the bids are in for the streetscape and GRC is in the process of selecting a developer for the Forge site, new things are beginning to happen on Poinsett Highway. This long-neglected main artery and gateway to the City of Greenville has a bright future!
